bmottin f3919b6ace fix(portability): replace bash 4 builtins absent from macOS bash 3.2
macOS ships bash 3.2 as /bin/bash, which `#!/usr/bin/env bash` resolves to
when no newer bash is on PATH. Two builtins the repo relies on do not exist
there, and both failed SILENTLY:

- `mapfile` in the three surgical-commit helpers left every array empty, so
the scope guards passed on nothing (fail-OPEN) and the commits degraded to
"nothing pending — no-op" while reporting success. deploy-commit.test.sh
went 4/16; memory and doc commits simply never happened.
- `declare -A` in the session-start hook errored on every session and left
each plugin cost at 0, so the passive-budget warning could never fire.

`_read_lines_into` is the portable equivalent of `mapfile`, space-safe and
resetting its target first — expanding a never-assigned array trips `set -u`
on bash < 4.4, which is how the empty arrays surfaced as "unbound variable".
Plugin costs move to a `case`.

source-scope.sh's header prescribed `mapfile` to its callers; it now shows
the read loop, and its own test plus run-reconcile.sh stop using the builtin.

deploy-commit 16/16, source-scope 34/34, run-reconcile 25 GREEN / 0 RED,
session-start stderr empty.

Bastien Chanot da3abf9f1b job5: J5-13 delete pending verbs (v2 hook rejected by BDR-037, J4-17 moot) 2026-07-07 00:53:49 +02:00
Bastien Chanot aae8cd68f6 job4: fix memory-commit fail-loud
Ports doc-commit.sh:123-138's fail-loud pattern verbatim-adapted.
`commit_memory` now checks `git commit`'s own exit status: on
rejection (pre-commit hook, protected branch, signing failure, …) it
returns 5 (mirrors doc-commit's rc 5 — memory-commit's 0/2/3 were
already taken) with a loud stderr message and NOTHING on stdout,
instead of falling through to `git rev-parse --short HEAD` and
silently reporting the previous (stale) commit as if it were new.

Closes J4-04 (UNTESTABLE, consequence CRITICAL). Previous commit
("test memory-commit masked failure (red)") proved the bug live: rc=0,
stale hash leaked on stdout, on the CURRENT code. This commit turns
that same T8 green: rc=5, empty stdout, HEAD unmoved.

GREEN: full `make test` exit 0 — 90(gitflow)/16(deterministic, T8
included)/32(doc-commit)/23(doc-shape)/25(reconcile)/5(release) +
24/4/13/20 (*.test.sh), shellcheck clean.

Bastien ChanotandClaude Opus 4.8 bbef41cebf feat(lib): emit memory-commit hash on stdout + T6/T7 (stdout contract, idempotence)
commit_memory now routes diagnostics to stderr and prints ONLY the memory-commit
short hash to stdout, so the capitalize-commit include can report it. Proven:
- T6: commit→hash (matches independent rev-parse), no-op→empty, unsafe→empty+exit3.
- T7: double run creates exactly one commit (real run, not by construction).

Bastien ChanotandClaude Opus 4.8 58cb91d2b7 feat(lib): surgical memory-commit helper + deterministic scope tests (T1/T2/T2-bis)
Foundation for the coupled-capitalize invariant (Frame 2): commit ONLY
.claude/memory + .claude/tasks, never `git add -A`. Safety lives in the
pathspec because automation removes the human diff review.

Proven on real git behavior, not assumed:
- T1/T2: dangling code (untracked or pre-staged) never embarked.
- T2-bis: `git commit -- pathspec` takes the working tree, not a stale index.
- T3 idempotent, T4 fail-closed on broken state, T5 TODO.md in scope.

_changed_paths filters to paths with real changes: `git commit -- pathspec`
aborts the whole commit on a no-match pathspec (e.g. empty .claude/tasks),
unlike `git add` which tolerates it.
